Diagnosed with diabetes
I have been a diabetic for over 13 years now and it seems like it was just yesterday that I woke up in that hospital bed with my diagnosis in hand and without knowledge of what to do and where to go from there. Yes the crash course at Diabetes university was essential and I took to it like a fish to water, it was after all a life and death situation as the doctors put it. They did their best to lower my glucose levels back to normal and I will be forever grateful, but as we all know their is a big difference from knowing the path and walking the path.
Diabetes self management is an ongoing exercise which one cannot fully prepare for. It requires daily adjustments to the key elements and can be derailed by something as minuscule as a common cold. This is something you have to find out on your own because as much as as diabetes is a common disease afflicting a lot of people, Its management however ends up being a personal battle.
There is a lot of resources out there and am assuming that said doctors did well in preparing you for this new diabetic life
We here at the poor diabetic we take over where the doctors leave off. Offer something more to help in your daily challenges after they kick you out.
We have compiled this tutorial covering some of the necessities and daily challenges of being diagnosed with diabetes hopefully it helps in your diabetic journey.
