Diabetes management solutions
The diabetes management solutions project has 1 main goal and that is to lower my a1c levels to below 7% in 30 days or less.

The premise of the diabetes management solutions project is simple, since in the last in the last few months
1. I have switched jobs: This one is increasingly sedimentary i.e. I sit in front of a computer all day long for 12 hours a day.
2. Lack of exercise: I used to commute to my last job on my bike, 2 hours each way on top of the 8 hours I worked, gave me plenty of exercise.
3. Diet changes: My diet has increasingly changed lately since I have little time to prepare meals and eat the way I am supposed to and I honestly have gotten off my game and became lazy.
So what does this mean, yes you guessed it my BG’s have been creeping back up again and obviously that has affected my a1c levels and I am heading in the wrong direction. At present my a1c is at 9.2%
I have this brilliant idea to chronicle my fight back to a healthier state of existence.
I know that there are people out there trying to get their sugars and control and I hope some can follow along teach and learn a few things in the process so this is what I will be doing on a daily basis and everyone can follow along.
Diet
The diet will be based on the recommended daily calorie intake of 1500-1800. The food choices will be based on a 65% protein 25% carbs and 10% fat.
My diet calls for 6 meals instead of the regular 3 because we are trying to jump start the metabolism. 6 smaller meals help me in staying full and getting that metabolism churning all day long thus keep the body burning fuel.
Exercise
While I have been away from the gym and for a couple of months, I have always been active and that means that I am not entirely starting from scratch but rather I would say mid stream.
My work out which I will tabulate more in detail will include both cardio and weight lifting sessions.
The weightlifting will be in a circuit training program, which has been shown to have more effective results.
Circuit training happens to be a sequence where one goes through all the target exercises with short rest times 15-30 seconds between them in a circuit, with a 2 minute rest period at the end before doing the next set.
I will target the whole body muscles in each of my work outs and alternate between cardio and weight lifting in successive days, five days a week.
Medications
At the moment I am taking
500 mg of metformin twice a day
5 mg of Prinivil twice a day
1000mg of Omega 3 Fish Oil twice a day
1000mcg of Chromium Picolinate twice a day
The ultimate goals
- To get the BG’s under control (lower my A1C levels to under 7%
- To loose 20-25 pounds (current weight is 210 pounds and I am 5’9″
- Expand the culinary skills
- Healthier lifestyle overall
The diabetes management solutions project is a 30 day program which is meant to jump start your metabolism, weight loss, diet changes and they in turn will lead in more controlled BG and a lowering of the a1c levels.
