Coconut Oil could prevent diabetes
Maybe the old rhyme that I love so much and is pasted everywhere on my blog could use a spruce, maybe it should say ” A coconut a day keeps the doctor away”.
At Least that’s what some Australian scientists want you to believe. They compared the effects of coconut oil-rich foods with a lard-based diet that’s common in the western world.
The results showed the coconut fed mice were much less likely to develop resistance to insulin.
Previous studies had linked coconut oil to high cholesterol because it is high in saturated fat. But recently Coconut oil has become acceptable because it now known that it contains medium chain fatty acids which are healthier than the long chain fatty acids found in animal products.
Before you go chowing down a coconut a day just remember that this is just one study and in mice for that matter, it is a long way before it reaches human trials.
So ode to A coconut a day keeping the doctor away.
